The purpose of the Quality Improvement Funding Support program is to make funding support available to approved child day care facilities to increase the availability and quality of child day care services in New Brunswick.
The Quality Improvement Funding Support program will make funding available to increase wages or provide bonuses for eligible child day care staff (specified by SD)

All approved child day care facilities with a valid identification number are encouraged to participate in this program. Approved child day care facilities can apply for QIFS on an annual basis, in April of each year.
Newly approved child day care facilities with infant spaces are able to apply for QIFS throughout the year. Newly approved day care facilities without infant spaces that open in-year will be eligible to apply for QIFS in March 2010.
All new day care facilities that open after March 31st, 2010 will only be eligible to receive the higher trained Wage Enhancement of $4.50 per hour for their recognized trained staff. Those employees without recognized Early Childhood Education training working at these new day care facilities will not be eligible for the Wage Enhancement.
All day care facilities that have been open and approved prior to March 31st, 2010 will continue to be eligible to receive both the higher trained wage rate of $4.50 per hour and the untrained wage rate of $2.75 per hour for all of their staff until their facility either closes or discontinues their participation in the QIFS program.
The Quality Improvement Funding Support program includes an application process and four quarterly reporting periods.
The application form requests information on the profile of each child day care facility in order to distribute the funding support according to a formula that corresponds with the goals of the program. A fully completed form is required in order for an application to be processed.
Funding payments are made prior to hours worked and are distributed monthly.
